The Great Smithsonian Cover-Up: 18 Giant Skeletons Discovered in Wisconsin

What they pulled out of the Wisconsin mud defied logic. The enormous size of the skeletons and the elongated skulls found in May 1912 did not fit into anyone’s concept of a textbook standard. They were massive. These were not average human beings. In fact, calling them “human” might be the biggest stretch of all.

It’s not.
This was first reported in the May 4, 1912 issue of the New York Times. The paper of record. The grey lady. Back then, they printed what they found. And what the Peterson brothers found on Lake Lawn Farm in southwest Wisconsin exhibited several strange and freakish features.
Let’s look at the numbers. Because numbers don’t lie.
Their heights ranged between 7.6 feet and 10 feet.
Go stand in a doorway. That’s usually six feet, eight inches. Now imagine a being that has to duck just to get under the roof of your house. That is 10 feet tall. The sheer biomechanics required to support a frame that size are mind-boggling.
The report stated their skulls were:
“… presumably those of men, are much larger than the heads of any race which inhabit America to-day.”
The Biological Anomalies: Monsters or Men?
Here is where it gets terrifying.
It wasn’t just the height. Tall humans exist. Robert Wadlow was 8 feet 11 inches. But Wadlow was frail. He had trouble walking. These ancient skeletons? They were warriors.
They tended to have a double row of teeth. This is called supernumerary teeth, but a full double row? That is something you see in sharks. Not people. Why would a humanoid need that much grinding power? What were they eating? Some theories suggest this points to a completely different genetic lineage, separated from Homo sapiens by hundreds of thousands of years.
They had 6 fingers and 6 toes.
This trait, known as polydactyly, appears in ancient texts worldwide. The Bible mentions a giant of Gath with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. Is it a coincidence that these Wisconsin skeletons match biblical descriptions perfectly? Evolution doesn’t usually produce the exact same genetic “mistake” across entire populations unless it’s not a mistake. Unless it’s a trait.
The teeth in the front of the jaw were regular molars. But the heads? Usually elongated. Some researchers believe this was due to a longer-than-normal lifespan, while others point to artificial cranial deformation. But you cannot artificially deform a skull to hold a brain significantly larger than a human’s. You can change the shape, not the volume.
One must wonder: how much could they lift? If you scale up a human to 10 feet, their strength increases exponentially. A 10-foot being with dense bones could likely flip a car. Are these the Giants the Bible, the Sumerians, and many other civilizations have in their history and painted on their walls?
Mystery of The Wisconsin Giants
So, was this some sort of prank? A hoax played by local farm boys or a demented taxidermist for fun and the attention of the press?
The answer is a hard no.
The Lake Delavan find of May 1912 was only one of dozens and dozens of similar finds. These reports flooded local newspapers from 1851 forward to the present day. It was not even the first set of giant skeletons found in Wisconsin. This state was ground zero for a lost civilization.
The Smithsonian’s “Pyramidal Monuments”
On August 10, 1891, the New York Times dropped another bombshell. They reported that scientists from the Smithsonian Institution had discovered several large “pyramidal monuments” on Lake Mills, near Madison, Wisconsin.
Read that again. Pyramids. In Wisconsin.
“Madison was in ancient days the centre of a teeming population numbering not less than 200,000,” the Times said. Think about that population size for ancient America. That is a metropolis. The excavators found an elaborate system of defensive works which they named Fort Aztalan.
“The celebrated mounds of Ohio and Indiana can bear no comparison, either in size, design or the skill displayed in their construction with these gigantic and mysterious monuments of earth — erected we know not by whom, and for what purpose we can only conjecture,” said the Times.
The Powell Doctrine: Why Hides the Truth?

In the late 1800s, John Wesley Powell, the director of the Bureau of Ethnology at the Smithsonian, issued a very specific doctrine. He instructed field agents to ignore any evidence that suggested Native Americans were not the original builders of the mounds, or that any “advanced” or “giant” race existed before them. The goal? Political expediency. It was easier to push a narrative of primitive savages to justify Manifest Destiny.
If they admitted a highly advanced, giant race built pyramids in Wisconsin, the whole timeline of the Western world would collapse. So, bones were crated up. Shipped to DC. And then? “Lost.” Or, as some whistleblowers claim, dumped into the Atlantic Ocean.
Two Giant Skeletons Near Potosi, WI
The cover-up is leaky, though. Old newspapers are the cracks in the dam.
The January 13th, 1870 edition of the Wisconsin Decatur Republican reported a find that chills the blood. Two giant, well-preserved skeletons of an unknown race were discovered near Potosi, WI. Workers were digging the foundation of a saw mill near the bank of the Mississippi River.
They hit bone.
One skeleton measured seven-and-a-half feet. The other? Eight feet tall. But again, it wasn’t just the height. The skulls of each had prominent cheekbones and double rows of teeth.
A large collection of arrowheads and “strange toys” were found buried with the remains. What kind of toys? We don’t know. That evidence vanished. But the inclusion of artifacts suggests intelligence, culture, and ritual.
Giant Skeleton Discovered in Maple Creek, WI
The reports just keep coming. You can’t ignore the pattern.
On December 20th, 1897, the New York Times reported that three large burial mounds had been discovered near Maple Creek, WI. Upon excavation, a skeleton measuring over nine feet from head to toe was discovered.
Nine feet. Imagine standing next to that. But look at what was found with him: finely tempered copper rods.
This detail is massive. Tempering copper requires heat treating and metallurgical knowledge. This implies technology. These weren’t just big brutes hitting things with rocks. They were metalworkers. They had industry.
